St Michael's Mount to appear in Channel 5's Cornwall: A Year by the Sea

St Michael’s Mount features in two episodes of Channel 5’s Cornwall: A Year by the Sea, showcasing the island’s history, landscapes and the people who care for it.

Episode 5, airing on Wednesday 25 June, follows Senior Guide Anna Berska as she prepares the castle for visitors. Viewers also meet Senior Gardener Jack Beesley, who explains the Mount’s unique subtropical garden, while Gardener Clare Hillage demonstrates the specialist work involved in maintaining the historic terraces by abseiling down the cliff face for a spot of extreme weeding.

Episode 10, airing on Thursday 30 July, focuses on life on a tidal island. Head Boatman Josh Sedgeman explains how weather and sea conditions shape daily life and visitor access, while long-time island resident and boatman Stephen Mathews reflects on more than 350 years of his family’s connection to St Michael’s Mount.

The series offers a behind-the-scenes look at the people, places and traditions that make Cornwall unique.

Watch on Wednesday 25 June and Thursday 30 July, or stream the episodes on demand after the broadcast.
