Drone regulations

Drone filming is not permitted on the island or causeway

Filming with drones is not permitted on the beach, causeway, car parks, or anywhere on, or near, the island, as this area is covered by a Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ).

Drone monitoring on St Michael’s Mount

St Michael’s Mount operates a drone detection system to monitor unauthorised drone activity within the designated FRZ. The system can identify drones operating within this restricted airspace and record their registration details, which are reported to the police. These measures help protect the safety, security and privacy of everyone on and around St Michael’s Mount.

Drone flights are only permitted with written consent from Penzance Heliport, St Aubyn Estates and the National Trust, and this permission needs to be granted at least two weeks prior to filming.

To seek permission, please contact: press@stmichaelsmount.co.uk
